One of Bear Cubs classes at school this trimester is cooking. Earlier this week they made oven fries. He liked them so much that he asked if we could make them at home.
He did all the work, I documented.
Recipe
- 2 large potatoes
- 4 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon onion salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon chili pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix together all of the dry ingredients together.
Scrub potatoes and remove any bad spots. At this point you can either peel the potatoes or leave the skins on. We left them on.
First cut the potatoes lengthwise.
Then cut the potatoes into strips.
After cutting up both potatoes, line them on a cookie sheet.
In a small microwave proof bowl, heat your butter for 10 seconds at a time until completely melted.
Brush all of the potato strips well with butter.
And then sprinkle on half of the seasonings. When your finished with the first side. Flip the potato strips over and repeat the same steps with the melted butter and seasonings.
Bake for 15 minutes for soft fries, 20-25 minutes for a more crisp fry.
*Despite the butter, several of the smaller fries did stick to tinfoil on our cookie sheet so you might want to use a cooking spray first.
These came out very nice and tasted great! Well done BC! We had them with butterfly pork chops and green beans.
Hopefully I’ll get BC to come back and cook again soon!

Those look mighty tasty!
Julia Child beware!!! They look very yummy….
I am definitely going to give those a try – thanks BC!
