Papa Bear ended up metal detecting Saturday at the same place he MD’ed on Wednesday. No prehistoric sharks teeth were found, and actually, this was probably one of his leaner weekends but he did end up finding two more spearheads.

“It stared off as a rough day. 88 degrees but it felt like 100. Humidity just plain sucked…
We finally ended up at the same location as the field photograph from Weds. I found the saddle shield first. I guess they actually went on saddles as decoration.
The bigger of the spear heads was found after I had dug a hole out to look for a target. The smaller one was on top of the soil just screaming at me!!
The Bar Lead was found at another location (Pactolas, NC). It has lettering on it. I am told that it was a form of issued lead during the Civil War.”
Good finds PB. Now figure out what kind of spearheads they are so we’ll know how old they are!!

From what I have read, I am leaning towards Archaic Period again (6000 to 3000 BC). Sharks teeth should be this Saturday.
