Back in January, The Homestead was contacted by a marketing representative for the Magid Glove & Safety Manufacturing Company to see if we’d be interested in reviewing some of their products.
After looking over their website and selecting a few items we felt we could honestly use and review, about two weeks ago we were sent a box of Magid products.
So every Monday over the next four weeks, we’ll be doing something here at The Homestead called Magid Monday where we review a different Magid Glove product.
The first product up for review this week is their goatskin leather gloves.
On the Magid website, the description for this glove is as follows:
Magid DuraFit Goatskin Leather Drivers Gloves with 100% Kevlar Liner
Magid’s DuraFit® 1243DENKV Drivers Gloves are the original 100% Kevlar®-lined drivers gloves. Made from lightweight, dress-style goatskin leather, the DuraFit 1243DENKV Drivers Glove stretches to provide maximum fit, grip, dexterity and comfort. Our Goatskin Gloves are made from a top grain leather and the natural lanolin makes these gloves extremely comfortable. What really sets this style apart is the stitched-in 100% Kevlar liner, a feature that delivers ANSI Cut Level 2 protection. Whether working outside or inside, DuraFit 1243DENKV Drivers are a great choice for comfortable hand protection you can count on.
Item #: 1243DENKV-S
Beings that it’s February, my biggest concern in reviewing the gloves was what to use them on since I’m not outside as much during the winter months.
Fortunately, an opportunity did present itself within days of the gloves arriving. Unfortunately it was in the form of Gabe’s loo.
Due to melting snow off the shed roof and occasional rainy days, Gabe’s area had become saturated and the old grass clippings needed to be changed. In addition to changing out the old clipping over to shredded pine, I added a much needed gutter and downspout.
This was a great opportunity to use the gloves.
I have to say, my immediate thought was how comfortable they were. They’re very soft and not thick or bulky like other leather gloves we have around here.
Normally I have to remove my gloves as I work so I can use tools but not with these gloves. I was able to keep them on the entire time which was great considering how many times my fingers were pinched getting that gutter up.
The gloves I sent to PB were put to great use while out…yes, say it with me…metal detecting. He and a couple of his Marine Corps buddies, MSgt A and Sgt B all wore the gloves and they had nothing but good things to say.
Like me, the first thing commented on was how comfortable the gloves were.
I think an even bigger impression was made several days later while Sgt B was whittling some wood. Apparently his knife became stuck in the wood and as he forced the knife out, the knife sliced across his hand.
The glove wasn’t cut and he credits the gloves for saving his finger.
I think everyone involved with this review would happily give the Magid DuraFit Goatskin Leather Driver Gloves an A+, (especially Sgt B), and I know exactly what I’m having Bear Cub wear the next time he decides to whittle some wood.
I wonder if Magid makes a body glove?
